Previously on The Dark Side of Love, devout Baptist, Colin Howell, is having a steamy affair with the Sunday school teacher at his church, Hazel Buchanan. Colin and Hazel’s spouses, Trevor and Lesley, are devastated by the affair, which seems to have no end in sight. Until one dark night in May, when the lives of these four spouses change forever.

It’s May of 1991 and in the Northern Ireland seaside village of Castlerock, the bodies of Lesley Clarke, wife of prominent local dentist, Colin Howell, and police officer Trevor Buchanan, were found in the car of the garage of a house, dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. All the evidence pointed to a suicide pact, so, case closed. However, it would take nearly twenty years and a guilty conscience for the sinister truth to be revealed.
